Rocks and stones

Every day, when I leave my house, this is what I see
My eyes zoom in at details
I see shapes, shades, layers, colours and tracks
Made by nature or humans
And I find them equally fascinating

Veo formas, sombras, capas, colores y huellas
Y me resulta igualmente fascinante.

DIPTYCHS OF RONDA III

Part of the exhibition is the third in the series ‘Diptychs of Ronda’
With these diptychs I am trying to create new images based on the merging of two unrelated photographs, taken at different times and for different reasons. For the diptychs I frequently use scale enlargements/reductions. The fusion of a close up of a landscape with a photo taken from a broader spectrum is alienating, but creates an excitingly new beauty.
With the first series I showed the different faces of Ronda; historic and natural beauty versus pragmatic buildings and street furniture. To find that in the end in their contrast they form a new balance.
For the second series I searched for harmony, by merging images of the natural beauty of the surroundings of the Serranía de Ronda.
This third series is showing the elementary ingredients of the Serranía de Ronda: Rocks and Stones.
I want to show how they make the landscape, both in beauty as in harshness. And how man has found his place in this landscape.
